Jeff Linden has practiced law since earning his Juris Doctor in 1993 from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco, California, after earning his Bachelor’s degree, with honors, from the University of Michigan, in Ann Arbor.
Jeff actively participated in the legal profession and the community through his membership and activities in governance, boards and publications.
During law school he served on the Student Government and liason to the faculty and the Board of Governors; earned appointmentboth to the Editorial Board of the Hastings Constitutional Law Quarterly law journal, and the Moot Court Board after winning the David Snodgrass Award for Outstanding Appellate Advocacy. He clerked as an extern for a United States District Court for the Northern District of California, and taught courses to San Francisco Junior and High School students on the law and legal issues relevant to the lives of young people in the Street Law Program.
Jeff began practicing with a large firm in San Francisco, California, quickly establishing himself as an aggressive and knowledgeable commercial attorney successfully representing institutional clients in a broad range of commercial matters. Shortly thereafter, he was invited to co-found a small firm in San Francisco with a core group of attorneys where he continued to develop his commercial expertise. In 1998, he returned his Michigan roots to begin a family and practice in the Metro-Detroit area where he has worked with small and medium sized law firms, finally opening his own firm The Linden Law Firm, PLC. Jeff’s broad based experience allows him the unique ability to provide his clients with “Big Firm” skills and “Small Firm value and efficiency.
Jeff is admitted to practice law in Michigan, California and Colorado. He has also earned admission to practice before and is a member of the bars of the United States Supreme Court, the United States Courts of Appeal for the Ninth and Sixth Circuits and, the federal trial courts in the Northern and Central Districts of California, as well as the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan, and the Eastern District of Kentucky.
Jeff currently concentrates his practice in the area of probate and trust administration, estate planning and litigation, including guardianship and conservatorship matters, elder law, general and complex business law and litigation in both federal and state courts, and landlord-tenant law. Jeff holds a Probate and Estate Planning Certificate from the Institute of Continuing Legal Education at the University of Michigan.
In addition his probate and estate and trust practice, Jeff has a depth of experience representing many high profile and other clients in matters ranging from high value insurance disputes arising from the death of thoroughbred race horses, accidental death insurance denials, corporate director/shareholder disputes, high and moderate value divorces, defense of white collar criminal and civil charges of Medicare and Medicaid fraud, and more. He has represented residential multifamily property owners and managers, including Section 8, and other subsidized housing managers with landlord-tenant, leasing, and compliance issues. He has represented nursing homes and health care professionals in numerous certification, compliance, and licensing matters before state and federal administrative agencies and courts. He also has extensive experience representing business owners, officers, directors and shareholders in a myriad of commercial matters.
Jeff is recognized by clients, judges and colleagues to be knowledgeable, creative, ethical and aggressive in the representation of his clients in any court proceeding or advisory matter. In recognition of the respect he holds in the legal community, the Michigan Supreme Court has appointed him to serve as a Hearing Panel Member of the Michigan Attorney Discipline Board, and his colleagues have elected him to serve as a member of the State Bar Representative Assembly for the Sixth Circuit region.
Jeff is a member of the Probate and Estate Planning, Business Law, and Litigation Sections of the State Bar. Jeff has served as a Commissioner on the Farmington Hills Commission on Parks and Recreation.
Jeff is a member of the Board of Trustees for Congregation Shaarey Zedek, and is the founding Chairman of the Religious School Task Force as part of the Congregational School Improvement Initiative national project (CSI2) and the Advisory Council for Education and Youth.
